Rules Summary

Draw 14 tiles, then make sets of matching numbers in different colors or number runs in one color. Your first meld usually needs at least 30 points, and after that you can add to and rearrange table sets; first player to use all tiles wins.

How to Play

Objective Be the first player to play all tiles from your rack by creating valid sets on the table and scoring favorably against opponents' remaining tiles. Setup Give each player a rack and 14 tiles drawn at random. Place remaining tiles face down as the draw pool. Choose a start player, often the one with the highest tile drawn before setup or by agreement. Turn Structure Begin your turn by checking whether you have made your initial meld yet; in most standard rules, your first play to the table must total at least 30 points using tiles from your rack only. If eligible, play one or more valid sets to the table. A valid set is either a group of the same number in different colors or a run of consecutive numbers in the same color. After your initial meld, you may add tiles to existing sets on the table and rearrange table tiles as long as all resulting sets remain valid when your turn ends. Use jokers as wild tiles where allowed, representing any needed tile in a set. If you cannot or choose not to make a legal play, draw one tile from the pool and end your turn. End of Game The round ends immediately when one player empties their rack. That player scores based on opponents' remaining tile values, while other players subtract the value of tiles left on their racks. If the draw pool is exhausted and no player can play, the player with the lowest rack total is typically the winner. Notes Common set requirements are groups of 3 or 4 same-number tiles in different colors and runs of 3 or more consecutive tiles in the same color. Jokers are powerful and often carry penalty points if left on a rack. House rules vary, especially for scoring and joker retrieval.
