Rules Summary
Draft a tile, add it to your 5x5 kingdom by matching terrain, and create large crowned regions to score points. The order of tile choice affects next round turn order, so players balance strong tiles against turn position.
How to Play
Objective Build a 5x5 kingdom centered on your castle and score the most points by creating large connected areas of the same terrain with crowns. Setup Shuffle all kingdom tiles and place them face down in a stack. Draw a number of tiles equal to the player count rules for the round, sort them by number, and place them face up in a column. Each player takes a castle and a king marker. Determine first player and use king markers to claim tiles from the available column. In a 2-player game, each player typically controls two kings under the standard rules. Turn Structure Reveal a new column of tiles and sort them in ascending order. In player order based on the previously chosen tiles, each player places their selected tile into their kingdom so that at least one side matches an existing terrain type or the castle. Tiles may be rotated, but must fit within the kingdom size limit. Then the player chooses one tile from the newly revealed column; turn order for the next round is determined by the tile numbers chosen. Continue until all tiles have been placed and claimed. End of Game After the last tiles are placed, score each connected terrain area by multiplying its number of squares by the number of crowns in that area. Add all area scores together. In many games, bonus points may be awarded for a centered castle and/or a complete 5x5 kingdom depending on the rules version used. Notes A terrain area with no crowns scores 0 points. The kingdom cannot exceed a 5x5 grid. Lower-numbered tiles are often stronger for turn order but may be weaker for scoring, creating the game's core drafting tension.
